20 banks behind the Bayer-Monsanto mega-deal

At least 20 banks have financed the $56.9bn Bayer-Monsanto mega-deal. Some banks are bookrunners, others support Bayer as lead arrangers, with $4.5bn and $1.125bn holdings respectively. The main financiers include BoA, Merrill Lynch, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, HSBC and J.P. Morgan. The high holding level of top banks demonstrates that the financial community has approved the deal and believes in the Leverkusen-based group’s great growth potential. $19bn out of $56bn will result from a share capital increase performed in midSeptember, the rest from bond issuance.
