Google invests in oncology for the first time

Alphabet, the group owning Google, is one of the 11 investors which poured  $92.7m into the California-based biotech startup Gritstone Oncology, which developed a specific immunotherapy to treat tumors. Gritstone Oncology was created 2 years ago and is aimed at developing therapeutic solutions to increase the number of patients responding to immunotherapy drugs, which is now only 20%.  The technology developed by Gritstone comes under the so-called personalized genetics, together with Kymriah, developed by Novartis and approved by FDA last August.
