Merck KGaA enters the Food&Beverage business by acquiring BioControl System

Merck KgaA today announced it has acquired US-based BioControl Systems (Bellevue, Washington). BioControl is a company with approximately 100 employees. In 2015, it generated revenue of $34m. The acquisition allows Merck to enter the food&beverage industry. Indeed, the acquiree develops and markets kits for microbiology testing of beverages, food and other commodities subject to deterioration due to bacterial contamination. The parties have not provided any details about the amount paid by Merck.
