Although Shire plc has been acquired by Japan-based Takeda, the Irish group has not stopped its M&A machine. Indeed, it yesterday announced, after trading had ended, that it had acquired Sanaplasma AG, a company focusing on plasma collection. The acquisition provides Shire with a reliable plasma supplying network, necessary for many of the drugs manufactured by the Immunology division, which last year generated $4.4bn. Sanaplasma has 14 plasma centers in Europe, 11 in Czech Republic, 3 in Hungary. The parties have not provided the financial details of the transaction.
