Solvay announces 600 job cuts globally

Belgium-based Solvay yesterday informed stock markets that it has started a reorganization plan especially involving its business in France. As part of the program, the company will reinforce its Lyon R&D site and its Brussels R&I site. By contrast, the Aubervilliers and Paris facilities will be closed down, and the company will offer the 500 people employed there the possibility to relocate to Brussels or Lyon. The whole process will result in the loss of 600 jobs globally–160 of which in France, 90 in Portugal and 80 in Brazil.
